Activities & Events

At Holmhurst we encourage our residents to take part in fun activities and George, our activities co-ordinator, has responsibility for arranging regular activities and events for all our residents.  This can be anything from a fishing trip, going to the cinema to watch a movie or wandering around the shops to an organised day trip e.g. to Marwell Zoo.  We have a range of activities and board games which residents have access to and we have an instructor visit us every week to hold an exercise class within the home.  Staff are encouraged to join in the fun and they do so whole-heartedly organising special days to celebrate occasions e.g. Halloween, Bonfire Night and many festivals of all religions often featuring games and fancy dress! We hold a birthday party for each of our residents, to which family and friends are invited, and we arrange an annual Christmas do for staff and residents at one of our local restaurants. This year staff are also getting into the Christmas spirit by putting on a pantomime for the residents to enjoy!

A recent musical evening held at Holmhurst......

Some of our residents attend a local Special Purpose Workshop. At the workshop they help to make things like rabbit hutches, bird boxes and garden furniture as well as stripping down and rebuilding bikes for resale and recycling unwanted office equipment for scrap metal.

One of our residents will shortly be starting work on a local farm.....

Our residents are also working in association with the Outer Avenue Residents Association (OARA) for their Bloom campaign - a project to make the area more attractive by planting cherry trees in front gardens and filling baskets/posts with red and white plants to celebrate St Georges Day.

We recently held a BBQ at the home.......
